David Soto Fernández

Have a degree in Geography and History. He obtained his PHD in History at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2003. Between 2003 and 2019 he was Associate Professor of Contemporary History at the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, where he participated in the creation of the Agroecosystems History Laboratory. Since 2019, he is Associate Professor of Economic History at the University of Santiago de Compostela. His research are focused in Agrarian and environmental History. Topics including social and agrarian metabolism, commons, economic and social evolution of agriculture, political ecology and environmental conflicts and democratization and nationalization of the peasantry. He has participated and directed several regional, national and international research projects. His scientific output includes 5 books, 17 articles in JCR, 11 articles in other databases and 24 book chapters. He is a member of the editorial board of Agua y Territorio and was a member of the journal Historia Agraria.
